A race of the Texas Ultra Series

RACE OVERVIEW

The East Texas Ultra is a 7K, 14K, 28K, and 50K trail run held at Lake Bob Sandlin State Park in the piney woods of East Texas. Featuring an open and scenic dirt/gravel course with some single-track trails. The race follows a 4.5-mile loop beginning and ending at the Lakeview Loop Trailhead.
 

Course Overview

- Surface: Open dirt/gravel trail & single track dirt trail
- Course: Lake Bob Sandlin State Park Trails
- Elevation: Moderately hilly with gains and loss of 300ft per loop.
- Location: Lake Bob Sandlin State Park 
Lakeview Loop Trailhead.

- Weather: Historic Average shows 60-82 degrees.

- No Cup Race: We don't serve cups, please make sure to bring your own water-carrying system!

Texas Ultra Series

This series spans all across Texas. All the finisher medals from each race combine to make the State of Texas. Anyone who finishes all the races will receive a special wooden case for all the finisher medals. The Top 7 Males and Top 7 Females that run the farthest distance of a Texas Ultra race will qualify for the Big Texas Ultra 100K Championship near Austin TX for a chance to win the Big Texas Ultra Champion Title.

Every runner will get an East Texas Ultra short sleeve shirt and a collectible finisher race medal that matches the races in the Texas Ultra Series. 

50K finishers will receive a special East Texas Ultra 50K inscribed finisher medal. The first-place male and first-place female of each distance will get an award. The last person to finish the 50K distance will get a DFL award... "dead freakin last."

Any runner who receives all five finisher medals will receive a special case for all of them. You have up to two years (till the end of 2025) to finish all 5 races and get the connecting medals.

Schedule:

Saturday, May 18th

Packet Pickup - 6:30AM to 7:30AM (Participants will receive their Bib and Race T-Shirt at packet pickup.)
 

Start Times:

50K Runners - 7:15 AM

28K Runners - 7:30 AM

Cutoff Time: 5:00 PM (10 Hours)

Sunday, May 19th

Packet Pickup - 6:30AM to 7:30AM (Participants will receive their Bib and Race T-Shirt at packet pickup.)
 

Start Times:

7K & 14K Runners - 7:30 AM

Cutoff Time: 12:00 PM (4.5 Hours)

Race

50K Runners - Seven Loops

50K runners will run a total of 31+ miles. The elevation gain is over 2100ft of climbing with over 2100ft in descending. The main aid station will be available every 4.5 miles. 


28K Runners - Four Loops

28K runners will run a total of 18+ miles. The elevation gain is over 1200ft of climbing with over 1200ft in descending. The main aid station will be available every 4.5 miles. 

 

14K Runners - Two Loops

14K runners will run a total of 9+ miles. The elevation gain is over 600ft of climbing with over 600ft in descending. The main aid station will be available every 4.5 miles.

7K Runners - One Loop

7K runners will run a total of 4+ miles. The elevation is over 300ft of climbing with over 300ft in descending. The main aid station will be available at the start and finish.

We will use orange ties, signage with arrows, and flags throughout the course. 


Aid Station

Main Aid Station (Start & Finish)
The aid station will be manned by a few volunteers and will have water,
Tailwind (electrolytes), sodas, bananas, oranges, pickles, chips, Oreos, pretzels, nuts, and animal crackers.
