Nope. Run, hike, or climb as you see fit. It's pretty common to hike in a trail run.

What is trail running?
Trail running is running or hiking on natural surfaces like dirt, grass, and forest trails instead of paved roads.

What is a ruck?

Rucking means hiking or running with a weighted backpack or vest. It’s used in military training and by endurance athletes as an added challenge. This series calls for 20lb minimum.

Are these trail races or road?
Every Run The Pines event is on trail terrain — dirt, rocks, roots, and elevation. Sometimes some pavement and gravel.

Do I have to run all four races to participate?

No — you can sign up for just one, several, or all four. Completing all four earns you the full medal set and a special case.

What distances are offered?

Each race has 5K to 30K options, plus a ruck division.

What should I bring?
Trail shoes, hydration system (water cup, bottle, or vest), layers (weather dependent) and grit.

Can I setup a tent?

Is this family or beginner-friendly?

Yes! The distances are approachable, and the events are designed to welcome runners, hikers, and ruckers of all experience levels.
