A Texas Ultra Championship Qualifier

RACE OVERVIEW

The South Texas Ultra is a 50K, 35K, 17K, and 5K scenic trail run held on the H.W. Lewis Ranch in the Texas Hill Country. Featuring beautiful scenery and challenging rocky, dirt, and grass trails with over 2850 feet of elevation gain for the 50K event, the race follows a 10.8M looped course and a unique route for the 5K, beginning and ending at the H.W. Lewis Ranch. This race brings a memorable atmosphere, beautiful views, and fun on the trails.

Course Overview

- Surface: Majority rocky with dirt and grass ATV trails
- Course: H.W. Lewis Ranch Trails
- Elevation: Lots of ups and downs climbing with three big climbs showing 950ft every 10.8M loop.
- Location: H.W. Lewis Ranch - (see pin below for exact location)
- Weather: Historic Average 60-79 degree middle of October weather. 

Texas Ultra Championship

The Top 10 Males and Top 10 Females that run the farthest distance of a Texas Ultra race will qualify for the Texas Ultra Championship for a chance to win thousands of dollars and the Texas Ultra Championship Title.

Every runner will get a South Texas Ultra Craft Sportswear short sleeve shirt and a collectible finisher race medal that matches with the other Texas Ultra Race medals. We will also have aid station food and supplies at this event.

50K finishers will receive a special South Texas Ultra 50K Finisher token. The first-place male and first-place female of each distance will get an award. The last person to finish each distance will get a DFL award... "dead freakin last."

Any runner who receives all four finisher medals will receive a special case. 

Location and Times

The start and finish are located on the west side of the ranch.

Packet Pickup - Pinned Start/Finish Area.
Saturday - 5:00AM to 7:15AM

Participants will receive their Bib and Race T-Shirt at packet pickup.


Start Times - Saturday
50K Runners - Start time 6:00 AM

35K & 17K Runners - Start time 7:00 AM
5K Runners - Start time 7:30 AM

 

Cutoff Time: 8:00 PM (14 Hours)

Race

50K Runners - Three loops
Runners will run a total of 32.58 miles. The elevation gain is around 2850ft of climbing and descending. Aid stations will be available every 3-4 miles per loop.

35K Runners - Two loops
Runners will run a total of 21.72 miles. The elevation gain is around 1900ft of climbing and descending. Aid stations will be available every 3-4 miles per loop.

 

17K Runners - One loop

Runners will run a total of 10.86 miles. The elevation gain is around 950ft of climbing and descending. Aid stations will be available every 3-4 miles per loop.

5K Runners - One modified loop
Runners will run a total of 3.12 miles. The elevation gain is around 188ft of climbing and descending. The aid station will be available at the start and finish.


Every runner will get a South Texas Ultra Craft Sportswear short sleeve shirt and a collectible finisher race medal that matches with the other Texas Ultra Race medals. We will also have aid station food and supplies at this event. 

 

The first-place male and first-place female of each distance will get an award. The last person to finish each distance will get a DFL award... "dead freakin last."

 

The top 10 males and top 10 females for the 50K will qualify for the Texas Ultra Championship.

Trail Markers
The course will be marked with orange signs and ties with reflective tape to help mark the course. Signs with arrows will be used to show which way to run and ties will let you know you're going the right way.


Aid Station
There will be one aid station and one water station.

Main Aid Station (Start/Finish Area)
The main aid station will be manned by a few volunteers and will have water, Tailwind, Pickle Juice, sodas, bananas, oranges, PB&Js, and other various salty, sweet, and savory snacks. We will have our first aid located at the main tent. 

Twin Lakes Water Station (Mile 4.4/7.4)
This water station will have water and Tailwind. This station may not be manned.

Camping

H.W. Lewis Ranch Camping - Campsite reservations will be available on the registration page checkout when registering for the race ($20/night. )
